Paper 2 Downloads and Specifications
For AQA Paper 2: Shaping the Nation, students are required to write on one topic from Section A: Thematic Studies, and one topic from Section B: British Depth Studies including the Historic Environment.
(NOTE: For the year of 2021, GCSE exams in the UK will not go ahead and will be replaced by a form of teacher-assessed grades, with training and support provided to ensure these are awarded fairly and consistently). For more information, visit AQA’s website.
Exam Paper Details
In Section A, there is a choice of three thematic studies, which look at key developments in Britain over a long period. In Section B there is a choice of four British depth studies incorporating the study of a specific historic environment.
The paper has a duration of 2 hours, consists of 84 marks (4 of which are for SPaG), and account for 50% of GCSE. Section A has four compulsory questions worth 40 marks, and Section B has four compulsory questions worth 40 marks.
