Between 1905 and 1941, Russia saw major changes from monarchy to communist rule. The 1917 revolutions ended Tsarist power and brought Lenin’s Bolsheviks to control. Stalin took over in the 1920s, leading with strict control, rapid industrialisation, and harsh purges.
