- Several hundred ghettos were established in Poland alone
- A ghetto would be a certain part of a town or city just for Jews
- Walls and fences were built around the ghetto to keep the Jews in
- In the ghetto a council of Jewish elders was appointed to run the ghetto efficiently
- Life in the ghettos was very difficult
- Staying alive in the ghettos was a way to resist the Nazis
