I am taking GCSE History, and aiming for an A* in the exam.

In the mock I just did, I got full marks on most of the questions but did really badly in the last 12 mark question so just missed out on the A*.

I was wondering if I could have some help with this question?

The rough model is always the same:
A statement e.g. "Immigrants came to Britain in the period 1948-1972 to find work"
Then "How far do the sources in this paper support this statement? Use details of the sources and your own knowledge to explain you answer"
There are 8 sources, which all relate to one theme - immigration in this case.

Is there a rough model/structure for how to answer this question?

Any help would be much appreciated,

There is a lot about 'how far' essays on the forum - try playing with the forum search - I am continually saying the same thing in different ways.
For the moment, try this thread and see if it helps ('to what extent' = 'how far').

Then try here and here.

Get back to us if this doesn't help.
