Hello. I am currently doing my History exam. I need to revise for it! I was wondering whether there were:
  • any links for flashcards on Battle of Hastings
  • any particular site that has information on Medival Life
  • any documentaries on the Black Death
  • any documantaries on the death of Thomas Becket

If you could help by finding any of these it would help a lot!

For videos about history there is a really good site called TimelinesTV. They have lots of films to watch including this one on the Black Death. There is another one on Thomas Becket here.

A really good site for historical information is the History Learning Site. The index to the section on Medieval England is on this page.

Another idea would be to do a forum search on the topics in which you are interested and then follow the links.

Hope that this helps.

As a personal reading/information book, the book I always recommend (and which I enjoyed reading) is Orlando Figes, A People's Tragedy: The Russian Revolution, 1891-1924.
On Russian Revolution historiography, try this.

I wondered if you could help me with a few things that I am not getting in the India topic. (Standard Grade)

I am not sure exactly what the Raj is, apart from that i means British Rule, do I need to know any more than that?

Also I know that there was certain rules that Indian people had to follow but what were they?

Finally, what does Satyagraha mean?

Thanks so much for all your help,

Callum. :)

The term 'Raj' means the whole system of British rule in India - that is the whole of what you have been studying.

On the rules that Indian people had to follow, there is the Salt Tax, of course, but I have not been able to find anywhere a 'list of repressions' such as you seem to want. I will go looking and will get back to you if I can find one.

Satyagraha was Gandhi's method of resistance to British rule.
