KS3 The Hundred Years War Resources

While the Hundred Years’ War was, in fact, not one hundred years long, its significance in history matches its 116-year length. Known to be the longest conflict in European history (1337-1453), it was the result of issues of sovereignty and conflict over the right to rule the Kingdom of France. See, England and France had a long, intertwined history following the Norman Invasion, in which Norman nobility took over titles and territory in England while maintaining titles and territory in France. Thus, the Hundred Years’ War see-sawed between English and French victories, five generations of kings, and calamity in the form of the Black Death.
