News has just reached the city that there was a big battle two days ago between the Sioux and the army. The army was commanded by Colonel Custer.  The Sioux were led by Chief Sitting Bull and another Indian called Crazy Horse. The battle was very fierce and many were killed. the Indians had an army of 12 000 men, the army led by Custer had only 250 men. The army still thought they could win because they had better weapons. Colonel Custer had made a really big mistake and tried to attack the Indians.

It is thought Colonel Custer ignored orders to wait for reinforcements and decided to attack with just his own men. The battle ended in a big defeat for the army. All the men were killed by the Sioux Indians.
